Füssen is a town in the German state of Bavaria, located in the district of Ostallgäu on the Lech River between the Ammergau and Allgäu Alps, at an altitude of 833 meters. The town has 15,538 inhabitants. Füssen is also known for the sulfur springs of Bad Faulenbach.
Neuschwanstein in Bavaria is a castle in the village of Hohenschwangau in the municipality of Schwangau near Füssen in the Allgäu, built in the second half of the 19th century by order of King Ludwig or Ludwig II of Bavaria.
The Pilgrimage Church of Wies (German: Wieskirche) or Meadow Church is an oval rococo church located in the town of Wies, in the municipality of Steingaden (Bavaria), at the foot of the German Alps. The church was built in the late 1740s by the brothers Johann Baptist and Dominikus Zimmermann. The latter lived the last eleven years of his life nearby. The church is both a tourist attraction and a place of pilgrimage.
